Description of cover

Accidental damage to your car

If your car's damaged in an accident or through vandalism, we'll arrange to have it fixed and guarantee the work (excluding parts - see terms and conditions) for as long as you own your car. If we can't fix it, we'll either pay to replace it or pay you cash up to its market value.

This may vary depending on when you purchased your policy. If you already have a General Accident policy, please check your policy booklet.

Motor legal services

Expert legal support when you need it most:

  • If you’re involved in a motor accident which is not your fault, we will cover up to £100,000 legal costs for a lawyer to pursue compensation from the driver who is to blame (e.g. personal injury, your excess, travel expenses)*. We will also pay your legal costs should your claim not be successful.
  • Up to £10,000 legal costs for a lawyer to defend you if you’re being prosecuted for a motoring offence (e.g. speeding).
  • 24 hour UK legal helpline - confidential legal advice on motoring issues (e.g. private vehicle sale).

*The lawyer will discuss your case with you and represent you if it is more likely than not that you will be successful.

New car replacement

We will replace your car with a new one of the same make model and specification if your car is damaged beyond economical repair or stolen and not recovered and you bought your car from new within the past 12 months.

Car recovery and approved repairer

If you've been in an accident and your car cannot be driven, we'll recover your car and take it to one of our approved repairers. We'll also take you and your passengers home or cover up to £150 for accomodation or public transport.

Courtesy car

A courtesy car is provided subject to availability to reduce your inconvenience and where possible ensure you remain mobile.

  • Claim accepted - A courtesy car will only be provided when your claim has been accepted and is being repaired by our approved repairer network.
  • Specification - The courtesy car is typically a small hatchback with room to seat 4 people.
  • 1 working day - If your car is immobile or unroadworthy we aim to provide a courtesy car within one working day.
  • Automatic courtesy cars - can be supplied, providing the car being repaired is an Automatic.
  • Outside the UK - We don't provide a courtesy car outside Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.
  • Written off or stolen - We don’t provide a courtesy car in the event your car is written off or stolen.

Third-party damage or injury

We'll cover you for:

  • your legal liability for death or injury to a third party
  • your legal liability for third party property damage up to £20,000,000
  • any legal defence representation costs incurred with our consent in connection with a claim against your policy up to a limit of £5,000,000.

Fire damage

If your car's damaged by fire, we'll arrange to get it fixed if possible. If it’s not possible to fix it, we'll either pay to replace it or pay you cash upto its market value.

Audio equipment

Audio equipment in your vehicle is covered as part of your vehicle's accessories.

For comprehensive, If this was fitted by the vehicle manufacturer then cover is Unlimited, otherwise there is £1,000 limit.

For Third Party Fire and Theft Policies, we'll cover damage to or theft for audio equipment up to £100.

Third-party cover for other cars

We'll cover you to drive other people's cars, as long as you have their permission and you're over 25. Any loss or damage of their car will not be covered.

Personal belongings cover

If you are claiming for damage to or theft of your car, we'll also provide cover for up to £150 of personal belongings such as handbags or sunglasses.

Glass repair or replacement

If you have a damaged window or windscreen, we’ll repair it (£25 excess) or replace it (£150 excess) and if you use one of our approved repairers the most we will pay will be the market value of your car at the time of the loss. If you use one of your own repairers the claim will be limited to £50.

If you have damaged glass that forms part of your car’s roof (including sunroofs and panoramic roofs), your vehicle excess will be payable.

European cover

We provide a comprehensive cover when you travel abroad to any of the following European countries if your trip's less than 90 days.

Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France (including Monaco), Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy (including San Marino and the Vatican City), Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland (including Liechtenstein).

Personal accident cover

Personal accident covers you for loss of, or permanent loss of use of, a limb, irrecoverable loss of sight in one or both eyes, permanent loss of hearing in one or both ears, or for death following an incident in the insured car. With comprehensive or telematics insurance, this is included as standard and provides £2,500 for you, your partner and named drivers if you/they are injured. There is also the option to buy increased personal accident cover which provides an additional £60,000 or £120,000 per insured person for death or serious injury, plus up to £500 of physiotherapy cover per insured person for minor injuries.

Replacement locks

If your ignition keys are lost or stolen we'll pay up to the value of £300 for the cost of replacing the affected locks, lock transmitter and central locking interface and affected parts of the alarm and/or immobiliser.
